Reiki Energy Healing
“Reiki is love, Love is wholeness, Wholeness is balance, Balance is wellbeing, and Wellbeing is freedom from disease”. – Dr Mikao Usui
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words – Rei which means “God’s Wisdom or the Higher Power” and Ki which is “life force energy”. So Reiki is actually “spiritually guided life force energy.”
Today’s stressful lifestyles are particularly draining on our energy and cause many of our diseases, illnesses and daily aches and pains. Reiki is a very soothing and relaxing treatment geared towards channeling life-force energy back into your body to restore your sense of well-being and to assist in any self-healing that may be needed.
What does the Energy Healing Treatment involve?
First I check to see which of the chakras are blocked or not functioning optimally. To administer Reiki, I channel life force energy through my hands unto another. Spiritual guidance enables the Reiki to flow through the affected parts of my client’s energy field and charges them with positive energy. It raises awareness in and around the physical body where negative thoughts and feelings are contained. This causes the negative energy—such as stress, anxiety, physical pain, sadness, confusion, etc.—to loosen its grip, allowing my touch to clarify the energy pathways.
During a session one can feel deeply emotionally relaxed, giddy, excited, or absolutely nothing. One might cry, laugh, yawn or do nothing at all. One may see images or have past events or worries flow through their mind or nothing at all. One may receive guidance or answers to questions, thoughts or worries that have been on their mind or nothing at all. One can feel it as a hot or cold sensation, a breeze, a chill, a tingly sensation, a pulsation in an area, or one feels nothing except my warm hands. Because we are all different it is best to say expect everything and yet nothing at the same time. Almost everyone feels relaxed at the end of the sessions, due to the fact that their energy has been rebalanced. Reiki will generally feel how the receiver needs it to feel.
What are the benefits of Reiki Healing?
Reiki energetic healing can have many benefits on every level for the recipient. Reiki doesn’t ‘cure’ in and of itself but supports the flow of chi in our body and works with the innate intelligence of the body. Reiki can thus enhance our vitality and healing capability. It is safe to combine Reiki with other modalities and treatments. Reiki healing is suitable for babies, children, adults, animals and during pregnancy.
Reiki may be of benefit for people with physical ailments, or for those seeking support for spiritual or emotional issues. Reiki can be of benefit as an adjunct modality for those receiving psychotherapy and other medical treatments. Psychotherapists have reported back that clients concurrently receiving Reiki integrate issues or gain insights rapidly and feel very supported in their process of transformation.
As well as chronic ill health, Reiki is very useful for acute symptoms, most noticeably in minor first aid injuries. Reiki is wonderful for helping sprains, strains and pains! Reiki is often of great assistance for pain relief, generally.
Even a pregnant lady can receive Reiki. In fact Reiki will help strengthen her bond between her baby and herself. Not only will she be receiving Reiki but her unborn child as well. It can help in a pregnancy by alleviating morning sickness, reducing stress and tiredness. It stimulates the babies’ healthy development and strengthens the bond between a mother and her baby. It keeps the mind, body and spirit in balance reducing the chances of postnatal depression. Reiki can help couples who are finding it difficult to conceive a child by reducing stress and stimulating both the females’ natural reproductive cycle and the males’ production of sperm. It accelerates the recovery time of the mother and baby after birth. It is especially good for caesareans sections and healing the various scars and stitches often associated with childbirth. It can be used to treat cradle cap, colic and wind in new-borns.
What to expect after a Reiki Treatment?
After a Reiki session it is important that you drink plenty of water and allow some quiet time for integration of the session. Some people have a mild detoxification after a Reiki healing, such as running nose, bowel changes, perspiration or perhaps some pimples. You may also experience mood changes, cry, have vivid dreams, feel very tired or have other bodily sensations.
It is common for people who have been very busy and stressed to feel very tired after a reiki session. Your body will begin to relax deeply and may need to catch up on rest and sleep. It is common during and after a Reiki session that people have insights either about understanding what is happening for them or how to work with the issue.
Reiki supports the inherent balance of the body’s vital force, so healing can occur on any level; emotionally, physically, spiritually or mentally and often in ways we could not predict. Reiki works with the cause of an issue and we must let go of our expectations and assumptions for a particular direction of healing.
